What do I look for in an engagement/portrait shoot locale?

What makes a location shoot-worthy for me?   I would have to say the two most important things are light and variety.  I look for spots that have rock walls, benches, water, gardens - and some of these even have a grunge element to them that I love.   And light . . . does it have areas of filtered light, back lighting, diffused lighting?  All shoot-worthy attributes.
