One of the best things about being an established wedding photographer is that couples hire you on the phone.   They know your reputation and they trust you to give them a great wedding photography experience.  It is especially common with couples coming in from out of town to get married in our beautiful state of New Hampshire.   A NH destination wedding is super common in New England and around the country as well.

Prescott Park in Portsmouth, NH was the setting for Molly and Joel's engagement session, and this was the first time we'd met.  It is not unusual for people to be uncomfortable for the camera, but this joyful couple warmed up to it right away.  That is the beauty of engagement shoots.  I love getting to know my couples and how they like to be photographed - it paves the way for amazing wedding day images.  We started laughing from the start when a funny Um-Pah kind of band began to play during our session.   I knew I loved Molly when I asked them to pose on the dock and I said "I can take that guy at the end of the dock out in photoshop later" and she said - "maybe it'll look good with him in there".   YES!  Turned it black and white and gave it kind of an editorial, real life setting.  Love that!!

The park has all kinds of photo opportunities as you'll see in the photos.  Lovely flower gardens, a fountain, and a rustic historic building that offers a weathered barnboard backdrop.

After a quick 20 minute shoot there, we hopped over to Great Island Common in New Castle, NH for more of a beachy, ocean front feel.  I loved the variety we got.  The area was packed with beach-goers and tourists, but using different angles to make it look we were alone did the trick.   I have photographed weddings, family portraits and engagement sessions at this location many many times and it is a definite favorite.

Molly & Joel are getting married at the Seacoast Science Center in Rye, NH and I have to say I am so jazzed to shoot there again.  I was a second shooter for a local NH photographer a couple of months ago and it was one of the most beautiful weddings I'd seen.  I can't wait to create my own magic for this couple.   The setting is absolutely stunning -- it is a quintessential NH Seacoast wedding event center, offering a beautiful tent for the reception, a lovely lawn area for the ceremony, an ocean AND a wooded setting for photographs.  I see another fabulous blog post showcasing this event on the horizon!
